Milton Road, Southend-on-Sea, Essex
This was the site of a former car showrooms acquired by Hollybrook some years ago.
Planning consent was obtained from Southend-on-Sea Borough Council in early 2012 for a scheme of 14 houses. The entire scheme was then sold to Estuary Housing Association on a turnkey basis. The development completed on time and on budget in November 2013.
Estuary’s assistant director of development, Debbie Collins, said: “The houses will be let to people from Southend Council’s waiting list at affordable rents of £148 - £180 and people will be moving in during the second week of November. This is the first scheme that Hollybrook have built for us and we are very impressed with both quality of the homes and the co-ordination of the construction of these homes. The houses have been built to Code 3 of Building Regulations which include solar panels and all homes have been fully carpeted which helps keep down moving in costs for tenants.
“We have received excellent feedback from local people who feel that the scheme has enhanced the Milton Road area and we have received many enquiries from people hoping that they would be able to purchase one of the homes. Southend remains part one of the key growth development areas for Estuary, and we hope to continue to be able to develop much needed homes in the area for local people.”
